Owned a Chromebook 2 for about 10 months. One day the screen developed horizontal and vertical lines that wouldn't go away. Contacted Toshiba and sent it in for warranty repair. Toshiba notified me that there was an internal crack in the screen causing the lines. 2 separate support people admitted that the damage was not the result of a drop (and rightfully so as it sat on a table it's whole short life and was never traveled with). The diagnosis was that opening and closing the laptop caused the damage. They are classifying the damage as above normal wear and tear and told me I must have been applying too much pressure when performing the open/close action.
I am pretty upset over this as I take great care of my devices. I can't believe that they could classify using the device as it's intended, above normal wear and tear. I escalated my concern/complaint as high as I could. The warranty sub they use pushed me back to Toshiba and Toshiba pushed me back to the warranty sub. Turning to social media is my last resort.
I really thought this was a good product but i was wrong. I hope most of you don't have to encounter what I have, consider yourselves warned. Without some unforeseen resolution to my issue, I can comfortably say I will never buy or recommend any Toshiba product again.
