Avis Rent a Car – Complaint

I have been President Club member for 14 years and have been renting with Avis for 20+ years. However, my loyalty ends today, as I have never been treated with such unprofessionalism and with such mistreatment as at Avis Aventura Mall.

On August 2, 2023, I reserved a car from Avis for one of my employees flying in for business. The rental was to be ready at noon for pick up on August 20th. I reserved a Ford Edge or similar large car plus my usual 2+ upgrades that I always receive. Avis called me on the day of pickup to tell me that they didn't have a car at noon, and we must come in at 2:00 pm to get a car. Not only do they not have a car, when I told them about my upgrade they told me they have ZERO upgrades and am getting a smaller car than I requested.

By my President Club member status, per Avis's policy I am entitled to receive two upgrades. When I brought that to the Avis representative's attention, she told me that was "too bad" and if I wanted a guarantee, I needed to be a Chairman Club member. I told him that this has never happened to me in the 20+ years I have been renting with Avis. She rudely replied - "there's a first time for everything" and told me if I was unhappy to rent somewhere else. I can no longer support a company who does not honor their own policies or even attempt to rectify the situation and just turns their customers away. Shameful.
